I am very pleased to say that they have great to Yosemite has worked very well and Dragon dictate is still working. We are in business here still! Of course I’m using DragonDictate to enter the text into this posting for Google plus.
It is taking a while for the iCloud Drive to set up on my iPhone 6 although the job has already been done on my iPad. Now I have to find out how I can use that.
There are still things happening in the background on my iMac and I can notice a little bit of slowing down in places.
I do like to have things that are new and shiny! ;-)
I have started this morning by doing some writing down of ideas for my book for #nanowrimo . So far I have just had these ideas swirling around inside my head and not really going anywhere in terms of getting the book together. Getting these words onto the screen inside #Scrivener is making it’s a little bit more real and the long way towards getting myself sorted out for the #NaNoWriMo.
So far I have seen two reports that DragonDictate works on OSX Yosemite so I’m going to bite the bullet and give it a try. I was just checking on the forum for DragonDictate and there are some of their using the latest version of it with our new OS X operating system.
I tried to make a bootable install disk for OS X Yosemite as per an article I saw on ArsTechnica suggesting the application called DiskMaker X and it didn’t work. Fortunately, the same article also and recommendations have the same job could be done using Terminal. That worked perfectly first time around.
I am still undecided about whether I should update OS X on account of the fact that I need to have Dragon dictate working for me. I have received a couple of reports to say that it is working, one from
I could put using the new operating system onto a spare SSD drive. There could be a problem with that scenario due to there being some applications that are Yosemite OS X only . If I had to go back to Mavericks I would have to make sure that I don’t upgrade those applications after the operating system upgrade.
It is official - I will not be updating to Yosemite on my iMac for a little while as I sent a request directly to DragonDictate to ask if I would be okay using it with Yosemite. They replied quickly to let me know that they cannot assure me that DragonDictate 4 will work perfectly in Yosemite.
They said - “I can only advise you to wait a little longer to update to Yosemite as we will create also an update for your DragonDictate 4 to make it fully compatible with this specific operating system.”
I suppose they have to wait until the final version is out before they can really do it although there are some developers that have managed to work with the developer beta versions of the operating system so that they can be ready on day one of Yosemite.
So I will have to be patient for a little while longer. I may have a proper look at the new Yosemite OS X operating system by installing it on my wife’s MacBook. I have been doing the necessary backups today and I did my own machine as well is doing my wife’s MacBook computer.
